- Rygg Maskin AS, a construction company in Randaberg, Norway has chosen the web-based system, TraceTracker Asset, for managing and tracking their equipment and tools in near real-time.
This fall the company will implement the solution on all of it’s project sites. Rygg Maskin’s main goal is to use the system to improve its internal leasing calculations, improve equipment utilization, and to have an overview of where equipment is located in the field. In addition to this Rygg Maskin will also use the system for service and maintenance records, managing safety certification, and protecting against theft.
“Today we experience a range of challenges with equipment management that directly affect our productivity and efficiency. Each time we calculate internal equipment leasing costs we have discussions about how much individual equipment pieces were actually used on specific project sites,” said Stein Nordal, Finance manager at Rygg Maskin. “Now TraceTracker Asset can ensure that we have information at the right place and at the right time. It can provide the exact time and location where equipment was in use. We can also improve how resources are divided between projects.”
In the first phase the solution will give an overview of select machine equipment and compaction equipment. “After an evaluation of various types of tracking technology, TraceTracker was chosen as a solution provider because their solutions are more targeted towards construction companies, and we believe that they can address our needs both now and in the future,” said Nordal.
“We are pleased to be working together with Rygg Maskin to manage their equipment and improve their work processes,” says Geir Myrold, Head of the Nordic Region at TraceTracker. “This project shows how flexible TraceTracker Asset is. Equipment data can cover all types of equipment and come via diverse sources including smart phones, RFID, bar codes and GPS. Everything is shown on the same web interface.”
