TraceTracker, a leading actor within asset tracking, is now introducing a new mobile app that tracks tools and equipment on construction sites in near real-time. The app, called TraceTracker Asset Mobile (TT Asset Mobile), dramatically cuts down the cost of tracking and significantly increases the accuracy of equipment inventories by enabling data collection on project sites with smart phones.

With TT Asset Mobile, users can reap the benefits of modern asset tracking technology without investing in hardware or software at each location. In practice construction workers have a full equipment overview right in their pockets. They can search for available equipment, report equipment that need repairs or complete and inventory.

“The solution is ingenious in its simplicity,” said Geir Myrold, Head of the Nordic Region at TraceTracker. “Each piece of equipment is marked with a 2D barcode or RFID tag, that you can read with your mobile phone camera or a small RFID reader that communicates with your phone via Bluetooth. Then the app instantly provides information about the equipment, its status and location. The user can flag equipment to make it available for other sites, or search for specific types of available equipment across the entire company.”

TT Asset Mobile integrates seamlessly with the web-application TT Asset which was launched in the construction industry in Norway this March. The system has a wide range of functions such as equipment tracking, container and vehicle tracking, an electronic travel log and more. All of the features are provided through a user-friendly interface with maps, alarms and various reports. It gives decision makers, project managers, and warehouse managers the information they need to improve equipment logistics.
