TraceTracker and Telenor Objects announce collaboration

10 May 2010 - #262 - News Articles »»

Telenor Objects, a new business unit under the Telenor Group, has chosen TraceTracker as a strategic partner for a new partner network.  The Shepherd® Partner Network – has been created to drive service innovation within the market for M2M (machine to machine) communication.

“Shepherd Partner Network supports Telenor Objects' vision, which is allowing any device to connect to any application. TraceTracker will play a key role bringing new applications to market”, says Thor Steffensen, Vice President Sales and Marketing in Telenor Objects.

Telenor Objects believes there in time will be a shift from vertically integrated, closed solutions to a more open and layered architecture for M2M. This trend which is much referred to as "Internet of Things", will lead to a flourishing of new applications that may be able to use already existing devices and infrastructure.

"With our powerful applications, we can help move the M2M scope forward, addressing a whole new arena of use cases. In many ways this is a move from an Internet of things to a Web of things through the shift of focus from communication protocols to end user applications. Efficient data capture coming from the Shepherd solution and partner network is vital in achieving universal device integration for such applications," says Geir Myrold, Head of Nordic Region, TraceTracker.
